Seal-Skin Butter was created for June’s What the Tide Returned collection, inspired by selkie stories from the cold waters of North Atlantic folklore, where seals slip from the sea, shed their skins, and become human for a while.

But the skin is never just a skin.

In selkie tales, it holds memory, freedom, longing, grief, and the way back to the self. The stolen seal-skin becomes a story about belonging, captivity, love, and the terrible ache of being kept from the wild part of yourself.

This body butter is our little offering to that feeling: soft, aquatic, and deeply atmospheric, with the scent of rain, moss, ozone, cold marine air, and something salt-worn drifting back from the deep.

Use on hands, elbows, knees, and any mortal skin that has recently considered becoming mythological.
