Quassia amara or Picrasma exelsa (syn. Quassia exelsa
Also known as Bitterwood, Bitter-Ash, and Amargo. Quassia wood is used as a natural insecticide, in folk medicine it had been used as a digestive, and extracts of the wood have been used as a flavoring in soft drinks, aperitifs, and bitters. Two different tree species are marketed and used interchangeably as Quassia - Quassia amara and Picrasma exelsa


We consider Quassia to be toxic and do not recommend ingesting. Those who are pregnant or trying to conceive should not touch Quassia.
